In 2024, I was working on an essay that I needed to complete for my Master’s Degree in Eschatology from the Word Wise Institute of Eschatology. This essay was with regard to Revelation Chapter 4, and as I was reading it I read it with the intent to get a revelation from every single word. So Revelation 4:1-3
Chapter says:
After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.
2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
3 And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.
I have always been fascinated with the fact that God is described as the most bright, beautiful, precious stone. We know Jesus as the cornerstone that the builder rejected, and Daniel sees a stone come and destroy the clay and iron feet on the statue in his dream. So we have consistent imagery through out the Bible about precious stones. However what stood out to me was the emerald rainbow around the throne. This emerald rainbow hits different in 2024.
It hit different because we watched the Olympics do an opening ceremony that highlighted drag queens in a place of honor. Every June for the past 10 years Pride month has become a bigger and bigger and bigger deal in the United States, but as I was reading Revelation the 4th chapter I started to think:
- There is a rainbow in God’s Throne Room
- This Rainbow is not a half circle it is a full circle
- This Rainbow has no color in it but Green
- God knows the end from the beginning
- God knew that the Rainbow would be coopted
- God will not be disrespected or mocked
As I meditated on Revelation 4:1-3, I began to ask myself why is this emerald rainbow so important? Then the Holy Spirit download into my spirit: God knows the end from the beginning and he will NOT be mocked. Currently the rainbow that we see in the sky has been co-opted to be a symbol of pride. the Bible in proverbs 16:18 says, “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.”
After years of seeing the rainbow’s meaning being corrupted from its original intent and meaning, God knew this and has the answer in his throne room: The Emerald Rainbow.
As I read Revelation Chapter 4 repeatedly and thought about all of the culture, political and religious debate around the rainbow I decided to launch a movement which is a clothing line that honors and praises God and acknowledges the original true meaning of the rainbow without judging those who seek to corrupt its meaning. The Emerald Rainbow is a global movement for believers to express their solidarity and Praise of the all powerful one, God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit. The Emerald Rainbow is a perfect symbol for Believers everywhere who want to acknowledge God’s Omniscience, Omnipresence, and Omnipresence.
